June 2019 Gleanings

June 8, 2019       1 Corinthians 15th Chapter

(We utilize the four components of basic inductive Bible study: Observation, Interpretation, Correlation and Application).

Our basic inductive bible study was a blessing as usual. I recapped 1 Corinthians the 14th chapter for the verses were read last session and we discussed the controversy concerning the gift of tongues in the Corinthian church. The 15th chapter consisting of 58 verses was assigned with 10 verses each. The basic thrust was on the resurrection of Christ and our resurrection. The chapter consisted of many reinforcements, such as “in vain” how our living would be in vain, the teaching of the gospel, etcetera, if there was no resurrection; the words “and that”, were repeated also in this 15th chapter. We observed the assurance of the believer and what Paul says about our spiritual bodies, and how death has no sting for we have victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Verses that required more time for discussion and clarification were verses 8 and 29.

We were encouraged by the 58th verse that our labor would not be in vain if we remain steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.

APPLICATION:

  1. How does the resurrection of Jesus give you hope?
  2. Do you understand the mystery of what our spiritual body will be like?
  3. Why do we fear death if we have the victory?

PRAYER:
Merciful God, there is yet much we do not understand. We thank you for the ongoing enlightenment of transitioning into our ongoing eternal life.

Even though we miss our loved ones we should find solace in knowing their destination. Help us to compel others to become saved, in the name of Jesus Christ, we pray Amen.
